On October 22, 2025, YKK Philippines was invited to participate in the 2025 Philippine Textile Congress – Championing an Inclusive Circular Textile Innovation Ecosystem – hosted by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
The event was led by Dr. Julius L. Leano Jr., Director of the DOST-Philippine Textile Research Institute and Chair of the Congress. It was also attended by various political leaders, researchers, and engineers.

The main goals of the event were to enhance the competitiveness, sustainability, and inclusivity of the textile industry.

Representative Aniela Bianca D. Tolentino of the 8th District of Cavite and Chairperson of the House Committee on Climate Change emphasized that circularity is not only about recycling, but also about transforming mindsets and systems to build a resilient and sustainable textile ecosystem.

Additionally, Ms. Anna Marie Lagon, Chief Creative Officer and Co-CEO of BAYO Manila Inc., delivered a presentation titled “Sustainability of Textile in Practice”, where she made a compelling statement:

“Climate change has challenged us to design better.”

This seemingly simple remark carries deep meaning. It calls on designers and creators to pause and reflect on the principles of sustainability, regeneration, and the circular economy.
